We researched remodeling contractors for our Holmes Beach vacation home - and decided to go with Kern and Gilder Construction. What a great choice! We did a complete remodel - roof, plumbing, electrical, windows, kitchen, baths, etc. - and moved walls and pushed out the back of the house. The finished product greatly exceeded our expectations - and we could not be happier! We live in Michigan so it was critical we found a contractor we could trust and with considerable experience in construction and island FEMA restrictions - and to make critical and accurate decisions without us on-site. Again Kern Construction “checked all those boxes”! Brennan Gilder worked closely with us - sent pictures and “face time” videos on a regular basis - again no surprises. If you’re thinking about a remodel project - go no further and choose Kern and Gilder Construction. Thank you Brennan for making our dream vacation home a reality!

We recently hired Kern Construction for a project at our home that included the demolition of several walls, followed by the insulating, rebuilding and painting of those walls. This included installing wainscoting on each of the walls. We also had them take care of a couple of less involved things during this time as well. From the start, it was an excellent experience. We had a pretty strict timeline during which this project needed to be completed and it was ultimately completed a couple of days early. The cost of the project was very reasonable as well. The first thing that was done on arrival the first day, was that our stairs and floors were covered, and they remained covered until the completion of the project. Overall, the property was kept very tidy throughout the project. I was kept up to date each day with regards to what the next phase of the project would be. All of the employees from Kern Construction as well as the sub-contractors used on this project were polite, professional and the quality of their work was outstanding. I would highly recommend Kern Construction to others and I will certainly use them again in the future if the need arises.

Between July 2021 and April 2022, Kern construction designed a remodel plan of my AMI beach bungalow. The internal home remodel including adding a bathroom, laundry closet and TV wall recess. This required removal of original 1965 concrete block walls, replacing wood stud walls, and installing plumbing and electrical systems. Drywall flow & texture blending was crucial as we created an open floor plan including replacing the front entrance door/frame. Labor and materials availability was a challenge for Kern Construction but this was probably also unavoidable, during this 2020-2022 pandemic. GR

We recently contracted with Kern Construction to build an expansion of an existing closet. Everyone that I dealt with at Kern Construction and the subcontractors that were used on this project were very courteous, professional and responsive. The quality of the work is outstanding and the project was completed on time. The entire project went smoothly and I would certainly use this company again in the future.
